Quick Comments

Dear Guest:

Below are quick comments received from folks on a variety of topics.

If you would like to comment/respond to any of the observations, please provide me with the item number and I’ll post it under the appropriate number:

QC-1 What is your opinion of scrambling the open and/or utility exercises? From:  AB-B-1

QC-2  I can see that if you are campaigning or trying many times for a title, that it would be beneficial. From:  AB-B-1

QC-3 Last weekend I noticed a judge when giving commands, paused a long while before giving his command (come, bar, jump etc.).  He was looking for anticipation.  To me this is just setting the dog up to do just that! From:  AB-B-1

QC-4 In my opinion, I would like to see the Open and Utility exercises scrambled. From:  AB-B-1

QC-5

Mixed up order of exercises...I am not against this ONCE the dog has titled at the level its competing at.  I feel that a lot of people who say 'yes they are for it', have yet to realize that doing a mixed up order from the get go, with a green dog is not as easy as it sounds.  Dogs need to have some experience where they gain confidence and stability at doing the exercises in a ring situation.  I feel this can be accomplished by having a consistent order in the beginning.  In my opinion, it is almost impossible to re-create the identical scenario when you train a dog with a mixed up order as you do in the ring.  Therefore, I believe that the dogs should have the opportunity to title FIRST, and then 'graduate' into the area of doing a mixed up order of exercises.  OR, you can leave things the way they are.  From: AB-C-3

QC-6

High Combined...with the introduction of advanced titles where dogs must double Q out of open and utility in order to get legs towards those titles, I think it is appropriate for a 'High Combined' award/rosette to be put in place.  This would be given to the dog that scores the highest scores out of both open and utility in the same trial.  From: AB-C-3
